Share
Anyone, whether it is a men or a women, can experience snoring when they are sleeping. Snoring is often annoying, especially for people sleeping next to a person that snores, because it can disturb their sleep. Although most of the triggers are the same with men, snoring in women is also influenced by hormonal factors.

Besides disturbing other people, snoring could also be dangerous for those who snore. This is because if their airway is blocked, then breathing can stop for a moment. According to buzzle, there are some factors which can cause a woman to snore, here they are:-

1. Obesity
Obesity makes women more often snore while sleeping because of the fat deposits in the neck. During sleep, much of the airway tissues are rested, fat deposits in the neck presses the airway which triggers snoring sound.
2. Menopause
Women snores more after they pass the age of 40 years old, because at that age, they generally had entered menopause. Decreased production of estrogen hormones triggers snoring during sleep because the hormone is a stimulant to keep the airway which to not get weakened during sleep.
3. Sleeping position
Women more easily snores when sleeping facing up. In that position, the base of the tongue is pulled by gravity and suppresses the throat and block the airway. Try to sleep sideways, and ask others whether you still snore in that position.
4. Alcohol
One effect of alcohol is triggering muscle relaxation, including in the respiratory tract. As with men, women are also more vulnerable to narrowing of the airway during sleep if they often consume alcohol.
5. Infection and inflammation
Sinusitis, colds and allergies can make the airways narrower so women who have the disorder are more likely to snore. Inflammation can also be triggered by cigarette smoke, so quitting smoking may help to relieve snoring in women.
6. Abnormal anatomy
Snoring is experienced more by people who have soft and long tonsil in the esophagus. The bulge will move in when you inhale, then back out when you exhale. The longer the bulge, the more likely to snore.
