High heeled shoes can give a more sexy appearance effect. But if you are currently pregnant, you should avoid using this model shoe. Because the habit of wearing them can endanger your pregnancy.
A survey conducted by the Society of Chiropodists and podiatrists (community of expert on feet disorders and diseases) from England on 1,000 pregnant women, found those who often wear different types of shoes such as ballet pump, flip-flops, high heels and Ugg boots.
From the survey results it is known that from the many kinds of shoes that is used by pregnant women, no one fits. In fact, seven out of ten pregnant women have foot problems such as swollen ankles and feet, and pain in the heel. So, using comfortable and fit shoes for pregnant women is very important.
“The muscles and ligaments of pregnant woman soften and stretch due to an increase in ovarian hormone relaxin, which makes the feet more vulnerable to everyday movement,” said podiatrist, Lorraine Jones, according to BBC.
“High heel shoes alter posture, shortened calf muscles and put pressure on your back and knees. In pregnancy there extra pressure on joints can be a problem in the legs, making the body out of balance and at risk to fall,” she said. According to Jones, pregnant women should choose shoes with a heel of 1.2 inches. This is to shift their weight a little more advanced to the foot, which can help reduce discomfort. But if you really want to use high heel shoes, try not to wear it too long.
